Process

Here is our process to master your song.

1. Create An Account

To get started, create an account. All you need to provide is your name and email address.

2. Create A Project

Once you have an account, you can create a mastering "project", which is a specific mastering task. This might be a single, and EP or an album. A project has a project page which is the hub for your project. The project page contains:

  • Your description/specification of your mastering project.
  • Your final mix.
  • Reference tracks.
  • Discussion comments between you and the mastering engineer about the project.
  • The mastered mix.
  • Invoice and payment.

3. Upload Your Final Mix

Upload your final mix to your project using the upload form on the project page.

Some other ways of getting your final mix to us are:

  • Upload to Dropbox and post a link as a comment on your project page.
  • Upload to WeTransfer and post a link as a comment on your project page.
  • Post a USB drive to us!

4. Choose A Mastering Engineer

Once your project is established, browse our mastering engineers and choose one for your project.

5. Discussion

Your mastering engineer will listen to your final mix and usually ask some questions. For example:

  • How quickly do you need the master?
  • Do you want it particularly loud?
  • Any special instructions?
  • Do you have a reference track?

6. Mastering!

The mastering engineer masters your song and uploads the master to the project page. You will be notified by email.

Mastering will typically take a day or two, but can be done more quickly if you need speed.

7. Feedback And Possible Remastering

If you are happy with your master (this is the usual case), proceed to the next step. Otherwise, post a comment to your project stating what's wrong. Your mastering engineer will continue to remaster your song over and over in accordance with your instructions (free of any additional charge) until you are happy. If you find that you are not happy with your mastering engineer, you can assign a different one and try again.

Note: If, during this process, you wish to submit a new version of your Final Mix, we will add 50% to the cost of your master for each new version. Example: You submit a single for mastering for US$75. During the mastering process, you submit a new version. You will pay a total of US$112. If you submit two new versions, the total cost will be US$150.

Note: Although we will remaster over and over until you are happy, there is a limit to what mastering can achieve. Remastering can fix mastering errors or change the nature of the mastering to your taste, but it cannot fix fundamental problems with the mix.

8. Invoice And Payment

Once you are delighted with your master, let us know and we will issue an electronic invoice on your project page.

You can pay the invoice from the project page using PayPal.
